Sarah Ourahmoune began boxing in 1997 at a club in Aubervilliers where she was trained by Saïd Bennajem, a former Olympic team member. At that time, women’s boxing was not yet allowed in France. In 1999, the French boxing federation authorized women’s boxing matches. Shortly after, Sarah won the title of French champion two years in a row in 1999 and 2000. She was then spotted by the federation and joined in 2000 the first French women’s boxing team and then INSEP (National Institute of Sport) in 2002. After a four-year break in her career, in 2007 she won the title of European Union Champion, a title she would hold for three consecutive years. The year 2008 was a fortunate year for her as she won, in addition to the title of European champion, the title of world champion in amateur boxing after her opponent tested positive for a doping test. In November 2009, she won the “woman and sport” trophy in the category “boost to a female personality” for her entire sports career as well as her studies at Sciences Po and her educational projects (she works with mentally disabled children). A month later, sports journalists awarded her a Gant d’Éclat for her world champion title and for her entire career. In 2010, she chose to resume her studies and join Sciences Po to prepare for a Master’s in Communication. She has also been part of the High-Level Athletes Commission at CNOSF (French National Olympic Sports Committee) since that year. In 2012, she was awarded the Legion of Honor. Sarah Ourahmoune ended her career in 2012. She became a mother. During her pregnancy, she missed her very busy life. She ventured into entrepreneurship by creating Boxer Inside©. She offers incentive seminars and corporate training where she uses boxing and high-level sports as a development tool. One final challenge: RIO 2016. The idea of stepping back into the ring excites her. She sets herself one last challenge: to win a medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Achievements: – Silver medal at the European Championship 2011 in Rotterdam – Winner of the Montana Belts 2011 and 2012 in the under 51kg category – French Champion in 1999, 2000, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 – European Union Champion in Lille in 2007, in Liverpool in 2008 and in Bulgaria in 2009 – Bronze medalist at the European Championships 2007 in Denmark. A member of Boxing Beats in Aubervilliers, world champion in 2008, multiple European medalist, she competes in the Olympic category of under 51 kg. She is the Olympic silver medalist at the Rio 2016 Games.
