Rony Brauman is a doctor, graduated in epidemiology and tropical medicine. After working several years as a field doctor, he became president of Doctors Without Borders in 1982 and held this position until 1994. He is currently a research director at the Doctors Without Borders Foundation, an associate professor at the IEP of Paris, and director of the ‘Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute’ (HCRI) at the University of Manchester.
He is a columnist for the quarterly magazine Alternatives Internationales.
He is also a former auditor of the IHEDN (40th national session, 1987-88), producer of the program Voix du silence, France Culture (1997-1999), and administrator of France Télévision (2000-2005). Rony Brauman is also the author of numerous books and the director of several documentary films on medicine and his humanitarian commitment.
