As a true car enthusiast, Roland Tameling knows everything about the automotive industry. Moreover, he knows how to captivate his audience on a wide range of topics.
As a little boy of about three, Roland Tameling could already recognize car taillights in the dark. He’s certainly outgrown that “little” phase: at 2.04 meters tall, many cars are a bit tight for him, yet his love for automobiles has only grown stronger.
On the contrary, his passion, joy, and expertise led him to a journalistic career with leading media brands. As a fifteen-year-old intern, Roland got his first taste of auto journalism at the editorial office of AutoWeek, already the largest automotive magazine in the Netherlands.
That spark was further fueled during his internship, which eventually grew into a prominent role on the editorial team. There, Tameling could perfectly combine his love for cars with his joy of storytelling. He produced countless written stories and features—including coverage of the decline of Saab, which won a Mercur award for Magazine Feature of the Year—but also shone in spoken word and on screen. He became one of the magazine’s regular video faces, hosted a TV program on SBS6, provided creative leadership for the video department, and became a highly sought-after guest at events.
As an independent and versatile multimedia professional, Roland enjoys combining different disciplines. He writes and presents for AD and AD.nl, is very active on his own social media channels, hosts podcasts and a weekly radio show for De Ondernemer, contributes creative ideas, and can confidently present live in front of large audiences.
His style is upbeat, disarming, and genuinely curious—always with a keen sense for asking the right questions and a sharp instinct for creating the desired atmosphere. Thanks to his pleasant manner, Roland is the ideal choice as a host, panel moderator, or discussion leader: every guest feels at ease, the content is handled with precision and professionalism, but the session can certainly be enjoyable too.
And yes, cars and mobility still often take the lead. Roland still climbs into his rare Volkswagen New Beetle V5 with a big grin (“built in a limited edition!”), delights in classic cars, and immerses himself with genuine interest in the latest models. He can rightfully be called one of the biggest car enthusiasts in the Netherlands—literally and figuratively: Huge Car Guy.
But Tameling looks beyond his own passion: thanks to his broad network, long career, and extensive general knowledge and curiosity, Roland keeps his audience informed on a wide variety of topics. From historical perspectives to current issues, he covers changing vehicle trends, developments and opportunities in electrification, sustainability, and technology, the mobility of the future, and the effects on (for example) entrepreneurs. A great story, well told? Roland Tameling is your man!
