Former French footballer turned coach, Robert Nouzaret was born on September 29, 1943, in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Winner of the Coupe de France in 1967, he played as a midfielder and then as a defender for Olympique Lyonnais, Girondins de Bordeaux, and Montpellier Littoral SC.
Robert Nouzaret then begins his long coaching career: known for his strong temperament but also for his honesty and human qualities, he has significantly contributed to the revival of a professional football team in Montpellier. He has coached Montpellier HSC several times, as well as Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Toulouse, and Bastia.
He also had a career in Africa where he had already been twice the coach and technical director of the Ivory Coast national team. Among his achievements as a coach are several victories, including: Champion of France D2 1999 (with AS Saint-Étienne), runner-up of France D2 1987 (with Olympique Lyonnais), winner of the Coupe de la Ligue 1992 (with Montpellier HSC), finalist of the Coupe de France 1992 (with Montpellier HSC) and 2002 (with SC Bastia).
