Rico’s daily work consists of training and coaching elite athletes, either individually or in teams. He works with national teams and individuals in various sports, primarily focusing on the Olympic Games. In London in 2012, he was the Mental Performance Manager for TeamNL. Additionally, he has worked for air traffic control at Schiphol and Eurocontrol in Maastricht, for the air force, with conductors and musicians, and in the business sector. The common thread among all these different disciplines is that a certain performance is always expected at a specific moment. It’s all about helping people do the right thing with the right effort at the right moment.
Rico is a sought-after speaker. He has experience giving lectures in banking, staffing, recruitment and selection agencies, universities and colleges, ministries, and publishing houses. His style is characterized by the many practical examples he can share from his sports experience. The parallels between sports and business are well-known, and Schuijers understands both. His themes include: performing under pressure, stress management, dealing with change, insight into individual differences, team building, inspiring peak performance, and personal stories from working with elite athletes at the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships.
Additionally, he conducts workshops on motivation, tension, concentration, and self-confidence.
