Richard Witschge is a former Dutch professional footballer. After the debut of his brother Rob Witschge, Richard made his debut in 1986 for Ajax. In 1991/1992, he transferred to FC Barcelona. After 3 seasons, he moved to the then-successful Bordeaux, where he played alongside Zinédine Zidane. In 1995, he was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers for a few months. In 1996, he returned to Ajax. In 2001, he was loaned to the Spanish Alavés, but a season later he was again included in the Ajax squad. In 2004, he played one more season for the Japanese Oita Trinita but then decided to put an end to his active career. In 1990, he made his debut for the Dutch national team. In total, he played 31 times for Oranje and scored 1 goal, the winning goal in the Euro qualification match in 1991 against Portugal. Nowadays, Richard works as an individual skills coach at Ajax; prior to that, he was an assistant coach under Aron Winter at Jong Ajax.
