Pierre van Hooijdonk began his football career at the age of 20 as a striker at RBC Roosendaal. He was soon sold to NAC Breda. As a player for NAC, he made a name for himself as a goal machine. His famous belly slide as a way to celebrate his goals became his trademark in the Eredivisie. In 2002, he was the top scorer in the Netherlands. The next step was an international adventure. He successfully played for Celtic, Nottingham Forest, Vitesse, SL Benfica, Feyenoord, and Fenerbahçe. In 1994, he made his debut for the Dutch national team, where he played a total of 46 internationals and scored 14 goals. His strong substitute appearances were the start of a brilliant career, with highlights including winning the UEFA Cup with Feyenoord. In 2007, he retired from professional football to continue as a coach. A second career as a TV analyst emerged simultaneously. Pierre’s experiences surrounding the realization of his childhood dream revolve around determination, perseverance, adaptability, and a winning mentality, and perhaps a bit of luck.
