Philippe Herlin is a finance researcher and lecturer at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. He is a member of the Club Finance HEC and the Cercle Turgot.
He works on the current financial crisis, particularly based on the theory of extreme risks (Black Swans, Pareto’s law, Mandelbrot’s fractals). His book “Finance: the new paradigm” (Eyrolles, 2010) received the Special Jury Prize of the Turgot Prize 2011, the most important prize for an economics book. In February 2012, he published “Rethinking the economy,” which revisits and develops these analyses and proposes solutions to overcome the crisis.
He is also a specialist in public debt. He runs the blog ladettedelafrance.fr and published “France, the bankruptcy?” (Eyrolles, 2010, 2nd edition in 2012).
He is also interested in the resurgence of gold, which is regaining a monetary role here and there, and remains the main safe investment. He published “Gold, an investment for the future” in 2012.
He regularly appears in the media and also gives lectures.
