About Paula Patricio

Paula Patricio was born in Lisbon and was the first foreign presenter on Dutch television. Even during her Master’s in French Language and Literature at the University of Amsterdam, Paula’s TV career began at Vara, where she was not only a broadcaster but also hosted informative programs such as the ‘TV Work Journal’ alongside Pieter Jan Hagens, ‘The Tax Show’ with Paul Witteman, and the course ‘Taxes’ with Willem Vermeend. For the presentation of the National Song Festival, Paula made a detour to the NOS.

She is also interested in educational programs; she took on the presentation of the Portuguese course at Teleac and ‘Round DNA’ at RVU. Later, she presented the film quiz ‘For a Postcard in the Front Row’ and ‘Distinctive Netherlands’ at KRO, where she revisited places from the youth of well-known guests (including Paul Rosenmöller, Huub Stapel, Boudewijn Büch).

After completing her studies, she was able to fully focus on television work and also became a sought-after moderator and discussion leader for symposia and conferences. Literature and art have her warm interest, as well as culture, media, and social issues; in short, all topics that touch upon society.

In addition to her presenting work, she occasionally acts in television series and provides voice-overs for documentaries. She also offers presentation and media training to middle and senior management in business and government.

Last but not least, over the past 15 years, Paula has proven herself as a songwriter for both domestic and international artists (including de Kast, René Froger, Paul de Leeuw, Katja Schuurman, Petra Berger, Maria de Fatima, and many others) in Dutch, English, French, and Portuguese. In short, a multi-talent in multiple languages.
