Mark Tuitert switched from inline skating to long track speed skating at a young age and specialized in short and middle distances. He was regarded as the greatest skating talent in the world, but falls, illness, and personal struggles prevented him from fully utilizing that talent. This gave him the opportunity to apply his talents in other areas.
After fifteen years at the top of the world in skating and winning many major tournaments, with the pinnacle being Olympic Gold in the 1500 meters in 2010, the curtain fell after a period of courageous choices and determination following participation in the Sochi 2014 Olympics. However, after his career as a top athlete, Mark Tuitert was determined to also reach the top in the societal field.
His expertise in speed skating proved useful during his work as a presenter at, among others, the KPN Clubhouse during the Rio Olympics and the Holland Heineken House in PyeongChang during the 2018 Games. Moreover, he completed the Sport, Business, and Leadership program at Nyenrode University in 2016 and fully immersed himself in entrepreneurship.
As a trainer, Mark started working at FitChannel. Additionally, he co-founded the chewing gum brand First Energy Gum with partners Michael and Wim. This reflects Mark’s passion for vitality. This gum contains green caffeine, providing new fast-acting healthy energy.
Mark Tuitert speaks passionately about ‘dreaming’ and ‘becoming stronger through setbacks’.
