Marie-José regularly speaks about the GDPR, social developments, and the challenges faced by organizations (and governments) in the field of social partnerships.
Marie-José Bonthuis has been an IT Lawyer since 2007 and the owner of IT’s Privacy, a consultancy in the field of data protection, since 2005. Marie-José is known as a pragmatist who is well-informed about the latest developments. She is also affiliated with the University of Groningen in connection with her dissertation on data protection in partnerships (chains). Through her background, knowledge, and experience, Marie-José succeeds in bridging the gap between ICT and law.
The GDPR, social developments surrounding it, and the challenges faced by organizations (and governments) in the field of social partnerships, such as the exchange of patient data (LSP, PGO), as well as within the Social Domain, are topics Marie-José regularly speaks about. Marie-José is always looking for methods to achieve the ideal scenario, also known as ‘Privacy by design’.
Recently, Marie-José published the book ’50 Misunderstandings about the GDPR’, which can elevate organizations and education to a higher level. Unfortunately, several persistent misunderstandings about this law still exist, which can hinder interesting developments. Marie-José approaches the right to privacy from a practical perspective and can speak about it in a clarifying manner. In 2007, Marie-José won the national thesis award with her thesis on the national electronic patient dossier.
Marie-José can be booked if there is a need to break prevailing misunderstandings about the usefulness and necessity of privacy principles and to achieve responsible innovation. She can speak at conferences, company events, sessions, etc.
