Karim Amghar is a Dutch writer for, among others, the NRC, author, program/documentary maker, television presenter, education professional, and lecturer at vocational and higher education.
For NTR, he presents various programs and creates documentaries on the subjects in which he has expertise. In 2019 and 2020, Amghar presented and produced the four-part series: Karim Takes His Chance about opportunity inequality in education. In 2021 and 2022, he presented various programs for, among others, NTR, including The Story of Abdelkrim, The M Word, several talk shows, Karim’s Sacrifice, and a four-part series on spirituality, diversity, and connection in Dutch society. In 2023, Karim created a five-part documentary on TV called: Believe in Education. Additionally, he had the opportunity to present ‘Ramadan in the Netherlands’ for NTR and created a special called: To Mecca.
The series elicited many reactions. Karim appeared in Talkshow M, RTL News, Nieuwsuur, Jinek, BEAU, DWDD, RTL Late Night, Radio 1, and interviews in various newspapers and regional broadcasters. He has written several articles for the NRC on opportunity inequality and poverty.
Karim conducts workshops and masterclasses on these topics for many organizations. Amghar won the Compassion Award in 2018, met Their Majesties the King and Queen for his work, was in the top 5 of the media community top 100 this year for his work at NTR, and has a consultancy on education and organizational development.
Amghar has researched, specializes in, and gives workshops/lectures/masterclasses on the themes of opportunity inequality, education, poverty, radicalization & polarization, racism & discrimination, diversity & inclusion, street culture, sexting & grooming, dialogue, and making difficult topics discussable. Amghar has conducted extensive research on these themes for his articles and programs. He helps schools and organizations across the country to raise awareness around these themes and assists schools and organizations in addressing these issues.
Amghar wrote the books ‘LISTEN TO ME! SEE ME! – Opportunity Inequality in Education’ and From Radical to Friendly. Additionally, he conducts research on opportunity inequality, vocational education, and other themes, advises both ministers, and is the chair of the vocational education work agenda.
