Jens Lehmann was born on November 10, 1969, in Essen. In 1989, he began his professional career as a football goalkeeper, initially with FC Schalke 04. This was followed by more than 10 years at various other clubs, including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal London, and VfB Stuttgart. He ended his career in May 2010 – at least that was the plan. He initially worked as a SKY commentator during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
In March 2011, the then 41-year-old Lehmann surprisingly announced his comeback for Arsenal London, as they could only field one fit goalkeeper and had already played successfully with the German stalwart in goal during the 2003-2008 season. Lehmann then actually ended his career at the end of the 2011 season.
Alongside his football career, he studied economics as a student at the Fern-Uni Hagen from 1990-1992. He was then enrolled at the Faculty of Economics in Münster until 1998. For Lehmann, it was always very important to position himself well outside of football. After his active football career, Lehmann worked as a coach, among other roles, in various areas of the business world.
Speaking is important to him, as there are so many parallels between the “business” and “football world,” such as pressure, the fear of making mistakes, and extremely high expectations. Jens Lehmann offers your event attendees the opportunity to learn exactly how a former football professional dealt with these situations. Lehmann presents strategies for goal setting, motivation and self- and external motivation, handling pressure, and overcoming crisis situations.
