About Jean Garrigues

Jean Garrigues is a former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Orléans, at Sciences Po, and at the Institute of Judicial Studies of the University Paris I.

He is the president of the Committee for Parliamentary and Political History, Vice-president of the International Commission for the History of State Assemblies, editor of the journal Parlement(s). Revue d’histoire politique, and director of the collection ‘Cliopolis’ (L’Harmattan). He is a member of the jury for the Senate History Prize and the National Assembly Thesis Prize.

He has been invited to give lectures at Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, London, Edinburgh, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Pisa, Alghero, Barcelona, Lisbon, Cadiz, Prague, Pardubice, Amsterdam, Luxembourg…

Additionally, Jean Garrigues has participated in numerous television programs (France 2 news, ‘L’ombre d’un doute’ on France 3, ‘C dans L’Air’ and ‘C Politique’ on France Cinq…) and radio shows (‘La Fabrique de l’histoire’, ‘Les Lundis de l’Histoire’ and ‘Du grain à moudre’ on France Culture, ‘2000 ans d’histoire’, ‘La marche de l’histoire’ on France Inter, ‘C’est arrivé cette semaine’ and ‘Au cœur de l’histoire’ on Europe 1…).

He has also written articles for Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération, L’Express…
