Jasper van Dijk is engaged and passionate, especially when it comes to national political developments and geopolitics. He enjoys discussing the workings of the House of Representatives, as well as media, migration, Europe, and geopolitics.
Jasper van Dijk was born and raised in Utrecht. From 1990, he lived in Amsterdam for over 25 years. After studying political science at the University of Amsterdam and completing his teacher training in social studies, he quickly started working as a faction assistant for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science at the SP faction in The Hague.
In 2004 and 2005, he worked as a staff member in the European Parliament. In early 2006, he was elected as a city councilor in Amsterdam. From late 2006 to 2023, he served as a Member of Parliament for the SP. His portfolios included education, culture/media, social affairs, defense, foreign affairs, and asylum & migration. He participated in numerous debates, organized meetings, and made foreign trips to countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, Lithuania, Bosnia, and Mali. He visited the USA multiple times for meetings at the United Nations and Washington.
After his term in parliament, Van Dijk taught several courses on politics & society at the Volksuniversiteit Utrecht. He also worked as an editor at SBS6. Currently, he is a presenter and commentator for the podcast De Nieuwe Wereld. There, he engages in conversations with experts about politics & society, culture, media, and geopolitics. In 2017, Van Dijk moved back to Utrecht. He lives with his partner and has two children with whom he plays football and makes music, and above all, enjoys a lot of fun.

Preventing war and contemplating a new world order are central to his thinking. His experience as a Member of Parliament, as well as an interviewer and social studies teacher, enables him to inform and entertain an audience exceptionally well.
Delivering a strong argument is an art; it requires thorough preparation. Too often, the focus shifts to trivial matters, causing attention to wane. A good story is breathtaking and provides insights into issues you won’t hear elsewhere.
