Herold Dat trains high-performance teams from, among others, the National Police and was one of the four unknown participants in Expeditie Robinson in 2017.
Herold Dat is an authentic trainer – coach who, through his no-nonsense approach, encourages people to reflect on their own actions. He sees it as his personal mission to share his perspective on the power of a good mindset with as many people as possible. Through his energetic approach, he challenges individuals to examine their own habits and behaviors and to change this behavior from within where necessary. With his attentive listening skills, he asks genuine questions when working with teams, creating a shared vision. Herold enjoys working in high-performance environments where performing under pressure and working from a common starting point are central.
In his lectures and workshops, he provides tools to change one’s own habits and behaviors and to realize that a good mindset helps in this process. His powerful stories invite reflection and contain surprising insights and tools that everyone can work with. He utilizes the power of metaphor and makes use of clichés. One of his well-known sayings is: “A cliché is a cliché because there is always a kernel of truth in it.”
Herold’s thinking and working methods are based on well-founded scientific research, his own life experiences, and his roles as a trainer, coach, and educator for various target groups within the government (Defense, Police, Fire Brigade, Justice, Care and Support Workers) and his work in the business sector.
In Defense, he spent 22 years developing and executing physical and mental training programs. He primarily trained in combat skills, procedures, and resilience. This usually took place in the mid and high mountains of Europe (French, Swiss, German, and Austrian Alps).
As a former top athlete (cycling), Herold won more than 130 races among top amateurs, including various National Amateur Classics, National Military Championships, and the European Military Championship in 2003. As an entrepreneur, he teaches at the National Police Academy, Justice, and Fontys University of Applied Sciences for Sports.
Additionally, he is frequently invited to conduct training for High Performance teams that must perform under pressure. In early 2018, Herold Dat launched a three-year learning trajectory he developed for High-potentials in the technology sector. Through his work, he inspires people to trust in their own mental resilience. As a person and professional, he enjoys discussing our three-layered brain and how you can remain the master of your own thoughts and emotions.
In our current 24/7 society, maintaining oneself is not a given; our ancient stress system is simply not sufficient in today’s zeitgeist. Our mental load and capacity are often under strain. To manage this energy effectively, Herold provides individuals and teams with mental tools and skills to restore and maintain balance, thereby bringing resilience to your organization.
In 2017, Herold Dat was one of the four unknowns in Expeditie Robinson. In his lecture: “Yes, it’s raining,… it’s all about mindset!” he talks about the bizarre selection process from several thousand applications, of which only four were allowed to participate, the lead-up to his adventure, the adventure itself, and suddenly becoming known to millions of viewers. That is a story in itself. He sees Robinson as a mini-society and draws comparisons to daily life. He makes a surprising parallel between the survival strategies of participants and our lives in the ordinary world.
Fortunately, Herold is more than just Robinson; his background as a professional and individual adds a personal touch to his lectures. He speaks about how you can manage your energy and determine your own mindset. The lectures and sessions have titles that speak for themselves, filled with energy and passion. His training sessions are interactive, where knowledge is interspersed with practical assignments. During reflection, there is always a transfer to the work context, as igniting the fire within yourself never truly stops.
