“Those who dare can lose. Those who do not dare have already lost.”
Evelyne Binsack, certified mountain guide, adventurer, author, and speaker, grew up in Switzerland. After school, she pursued a sports career and aimed to become a top athlete in middle-distance running. However, she then discovered the camaraderie of mountaineering, which stands in stark contrast to the competition of individual sports.
At just 22 years old, Evelyne Binsack first ascended the Eiger North Face in winter, followed by a solo ascent of the Northeast Face in summer, and at the age of 32, she climbed the Eiger North Face for a film documentary. The live report received the television award in 1999.
Expeditions to the mountains of the Himalayas, Karakoram, Andes, and Patagonia expanded her experience, and in 2001, Evelyne became the first Swiss woman to summit Mount Everest, 8848m.
What willpower means was demonstrated by Evelyne Binsack to the world when she crossed the entire mainland from Switzerland to the South Pole under her own muscle power by bicycle, on foot with skis and sled between 2006 and 2008. After 484 days and over 25,000 km, she reached the South Pole completely exhausted (nominated for the Swiss Award 2008).
In 2012, Evelyne attended the documentary film school at NYFA in Hollywood. In 2013, she created a documentary work about willpower, “Survival Will,” for which she also filmed at Mount Everest.
Currently, Evelyne is planning new challenges to the ends of the earth.
