Erik van Haren, M.Ed, is a passionate expert with over 20 years of experience in self-discovery learning and mathematical thinking. What makes him truly unique is his ability to connect pedagogy, psychology, and (subject) didactics.
With more than twenty years of experience in education, psychology, and personal development, Erik van Haren inspires people to grow and thrive. His passion lies in creating failure-safe environments where learning becomes a natural process that stimulates both enjoyment and growth.
Erik’s vision is articulated in his book Wiskundeplezier: change your mindset by daring, doing, and understanding. He combines pedagogical insights with practical tools to not only make mathematics accessible but also to help people better understand themselves. During his TEDx talk, he demonstrated how vulnerability and courage lead to powerful learning experiences.
As the founder of Mathplay, he developed innovative games such as Fold Fun, which are used worldwide by schools and families to make learning tangible and fun. Additionally, he designed the Smartpool program in collaboration with the Royal Dutch Billiards Federation (KNBB). This project combines learning and movement and is successfully implemented in schools and sports events to promote social interaction, education, and health.
Through the HNLP Institute Core Growth, Erik helps participants break through limiting thought patterns and develop practical skills. His dare-do-understand methodology combines vulnerability and strength, inviting participants to confidently push their boundaries.
Making mistakes is not failing; they are valuable signposts to your growth potential.
In 2021, Erik was nominated for the title Teacher of the Year, a recognition of his innovative perspective on education and his ability to make learning truly meaningful. He has spoken on prestigious stages, including the Dutch Mathematics Days, TEDx, and conferences of the Dutch Montessori Association and SIAM.
Erik delivers tailored lectures, adapted to the specific needs of his audience. Whether it concerns teachers, policymakers, businesses, or social organizations, he offers interactive sessions focused on leadership, educational innovation, and personal development.
Known for his energetic style and practical approach, Erik translates abstract concepts into concrete tools and insights.
