From apprenticeship to maturity, from collections to the birth of the Atelier and the brand Moye & Da, Eric Charles-Donatien has been exploring the world of creation since 1995 after graduating in 1992 from the National School of Applied Arts Duperre. Assistant and apprentice to Mr. André Lemarié from 1996 to 2003, he was introduced to Parisian houses including direct collaborations with Yves Saint-Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Hubert de Givenchy while perfecting the acquisition of know-how with André Lemarié and the doyennes of workshops. In 2003 and until 2011, André Lemarié entrusted him with the Artistic Direction of his house, thus giving him the opportunity to manage the workshops, develop and strengthen the technical and creative tools for the benefit of Parisian luxury houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, among others, and initiate the penetration of the American market with brands like Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, among others, and the Italian market with Valentino, Dolce Gabbana, Gucci, Versace, and Cavalli for example. In this context, he strengthened his bond with Designer Peter Dundas, now Artistic Director of the Emilio Pucci house. During this period, he designed sample collections around the techniques of the workshops (Feather, Flower, Couture). Between 2007 and 2010, he launched and created biannual collections of Lemarié jewelry around feathers: the “Lemarié Accessories” collection with the technical collaboration of the Goossens workshops. ECD offers a personal line for Lemarié in the form of jewelry collections that will be sold in the most cutting-edge boutiques. He is also the Brand Image Ambassador, a regular contact for the multilingual “Press.” After more than fifteen years shared with the Maison Lemarié, he founded in 2011 M.A.D STUDIO SAS Fashion & Feather Designer, which he has been developing and distinguishing since as Artistic Director. Eric Charles-Donatien inaugurates within M.A.D. STUDIOS SAS:
The brand: MOYE&DA It is conceived as a laboratory. No seasons but emotional objects handcrafted with the collaboration of Parisian artisans. Creation of luxury accessory collections: high fashion jewelry and leather goods. Two lines: Women and Men, With or without feathers, off-season jewelry and bags for the creation of unique objects. The Atelier: Step by step, as close as possible to the studios. ECD continues the legacy of André Lemarié and moves to meet each creator in order to interpret and bring to life the fashion image they have envisioned. Traditional feather work and sewing, modernization of techniques
On multiple supports: metals, fabrics, leathers, wood. With a search for adaptation to an expanded market: fashion, decoration, contemporary art and scenography, fashion shows, events, consulting in jewelry and leather goods. Numerous collaborations with Dior, Roger Vivier, Dries Van Noten, Emilio Pucci, Ralph Rucci, L’Oréal, Repetto. The Design: a long-standing desire materialized by projects for luxury hotels and the beginning of a collection of objects around feathers and metal. The feather becomes a modern, unisex, and multi-support material. Making creation a constant link between poetry, philosophy, and the quest for meaning. An experimentation on the decor and decorative objects conceived by ECD around his favorite materials. Here it is a matter of will, that of creating something different in a different way. ECD reveals, manufactures, and presents an “artistic gesture.”
