Émilie Gomis, born in 1983 in Ziguinchor, Senegal, is a French basketball player who plays as a shooting guard or small forward. A key member of the French women’s national team, she won the European title in 2009. Injured during the last preparation match, she had to withdraw from the 2010 World Championship. Returning for the end of the championship, she was selected for the French team where she won a bronze medal at Euro 2011. She was selected for the 2012 Olympic team. Against Australia in the group matches, she scored 22 points, greatly contributing to France’s victory.
Émilie Gomis participated in the program Bien Manger, C’est Bien Joué!, launched in 2005 by the Sport Foundation. She contributed to the creation of videos aimed at young athletes to teach them the basics of a diet suitable for physical exertion. This program by the Sport Foundation also raises children’s awareness of the importance of physical activity.
