Ellie Lust is also available as a moderator, communication trainer, and speaker. She also leads and facilitates debates and book presentations. Ellie gives lectures on a variety of topics, mostly related to LGBT+ themes (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender), but also on safety, communication, and media relations.
Ellie Lust was born in Amsterdam and has known from a young age that she wants to work in law enforcement. Her dream comes true when she begins her training at the Amsterdam Police Academy in 1987. Later, she completes additional training to become a neighborhood officer. Furthermore, Ellie has attended several training sessions in communication and spokesperson skills. After working for over twenty years as a police officer ‘on the streets’ in Amsterdam, Ellie becomes a spokesperson at the communication bureau of the Amsterdam police in 2007. In addition to her role as spokesperson, she also becomes partly responsible for the process of investigative communication.
She has also been instrumental in the establishment of the police network Roze in Blauw, of which she has taken on the presidency for many years. (Roze in Blauw is a team consisting of ‘pink’ police officers and serves as a point of contact for the LGBT+ community)
In her early years as a police officer, she is also a top athlete. Ellie has played volleyball at the highest level for 12 years and has been part of the Dutch national team.
In 2005, the Netherlands gets to know Ellie Lust when she makes her appearance as a police spokesperson on AVRO’s Opsporing Verzocht. In 2016, she appears as a contestant in the program ‘Wie is de Mol?’ where she introduces the concept of ‘ether discipline’. In 2018, Ellie gets her own program; Ellie op Patrouille and becomes the first Dutch host for Investigation Discovery where she presents ‘Ellie Lust: Bizarre Zaken’.
In 2018, the police asks Ellie to choose between her police work or her media career. She ultimately chooses the latter.
