Dominique Bourg has been a professor at the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment at the University of Lausanne since September 1, 2006.
He co-directs with Alain Papaux the series “Ecology in Questions” at PUF and with Philippe Roch the series “Ecological Foundations” at Labor et Fides. He is also a member of the editorial or advisory board of the journals Esprit & Ecology and Politics.
He is or has been a member of several French commissions: the CFDD, the Coppens Commission responsible for preparing the Charter of the Environment now linked to the French Constitution, the National Council for Sustainable Development, and he served as vice-chair of Commission 6 of the Grenelle Environment Forum and the study group on the functionality economy. He also participated in the Environmental Conference of September 2012.
He has been a member of the scientific council of Ademe and participated in the scientific council of the Institute of the City in Motion. A former president of the societal council of EDF, he currently chairs the stakeholder council of CDC Climat and is vice-president of the Nicolas Hulot Foundation. He also participates in the State of Vaud’s Foresight Body.
His research areas include the study of ecological thought, the evaluation of technological choices and risks, the precautionary principle, public debate, and ecological democracy.
