About Birgit Kelle

Birgit Kelle is one of Germany’s most prominent journalists, particularly in relation to social issues and the discussion of a contemporary gender role for women. She is a staunch opponent of gender quotas and a passionate mother of four children.

As a columnist, she publishes on the opinion and debate portal The European (column “Volle Kelle”) and on the family portal “A.T. Kearney 361 Degrees – The Reinvention of the Family” and writes for numerous print and online media including Die Welt, Focus, and “Freie Welt”. From 2005 to 2008, she served as editor-in-chief of her own Christian monthly newspaper VERS1.

In her first book, titled “Dann mach doch die Bluse zu – Ein Aufschrei gegen den Gleichheitswahn” (Adeo), published at the end of August 2013, Kelle summarizes her convictions on women’s and family policy. She argues that old feminism is obsolete. After decades of women fighting not to be dictated by men on how to live, she refuses to accept that “professional feminists” and politicians believe they can prescribe a certain lifestyle to the majority of women.

Her clear viewpoints and her enthusiasm for discussion and debate make her a sought-after and popular speaker. She is also frequently invited to talk shows. In September 2012, she was invited as an expert to the Bundestag’s Family Committee to comment on the childcare allowance debate.

Kelle is also the chairwoman of the association “Frau 2000plus”. Since October 2010, she has been a board member of New Women For Europe (NWFE), an umbrella organization for women’s and family organizations across Europe. She is also the deputy chairwoman of the Association for Family Work e.V. and spokesperson for the alliance “Save the Family”.
