Anke Eberhardt has been working as a journalist for more than ten years, designing magazines from scratch or further developing existing issues. In hindsight, it might have been fortunate that the journalism school politely declined her application after high school, and despite graduating summa cum laude with a master’s degree in literature, history, and communication studies, no one has asked about it since. Instead, practice taught her the craft. She has always felt more at home in niches than in the mainstream.
As the editor-in-chief and head of the fashion department of the magazine “CUT – Leute machen Kleider,” her topics are fashion, do-it-yourself, and design – but not old-fashioned or crafty, rather with an aesthetic appeal that has won Red Dot, ADC, or Lead Awards. Here, ironic tones and elaborate photo shoots dominate her work, because above all, it has to be fun – this also applies to her lectures.
At the same time, her work as editor-in-chief for “Autonomy,” a lifestyle magazine for people with physical disabilities, provides variety. The magazine, which she conceptualized and was awarded the Best Of Corporate Publishing Award in 2011, brings modern design and current topics to an audience that had previously only been addressed through outdated stereotypes.
Additionally, she writes as a freelancer for various special-interest magazines, blogs, or the sports section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Besides journalism, lifestyle, and fashion, she is also knowledgeable in another area: multitasking.
