Andreas Schorlemmer was born in the former GDR. He studied Protestant theology at Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University in Greifswald from 1969 to 1974 and then worked for 20 years as a pastor in a community in northeastern Germany. In 1998, he was appointed as a police and emergency chaplain for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He is a lecturer in the field of professional ethics at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration, Police, and Legal Affairs. In addition to regular teaching, he offers seminars in the area of further education that include ethical discourse in police actions. A wide range of stressful situations in the psychosomatic area are addressed. He has played a significant role in the establishment of crisis intervention and emergency chaplaincy in MV and holds leadership positions here. He has qualified in supporting victims and relatives after fatal accidents, in suicide situations, and other emergencies. In police work, he has been trained as a member and supervisor in a special unit for the most difficult situations. Furthermore, he works as a consultant and chaplain in both professional and private contexts. He is open-minded towards everyone. He is a good listener, able to analyze, and helps in solving problems.
