Agnès Bénassy-Quéré is a Professor at the University of Paris 1 and Director of CEPII. She graduated from ESCP and holds a PhD in economics from the University of Paris–Dauphine. She initially worked at the Ministry of Finance and Industry as an economist in the Bureau of Economic Policy (1991-1992).
She then served as a Lecturer at the University of Cergy-Pontoise (1993-1996), then as a Professor at the University of Lille 2 (1996-1999), before joining the University of Paris-Ouest (2000-2011) and the direction of CEPII (2006). She also served as a Professor of courses at the École Polytechnique (2003-2011). She obtained her habilitation to become a Research Director in 1995 and also received a second rank aggregation in Economic Sciences.
Throughout her teaching career, she has notably given lectures, directed or contributed to training sessions, internships, and seminars in Tirana (Albania), at Southern Illinois University (United States), at ENA (Paris), at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Hungary (Budapest), at IEP Paris, at the University of Paris I, in Brussels (Belgium), and at HEC Tunis (Tunisia).
Agnès Bénassy-Quéré is also a member of the Economic Commission of the Nation, the Council of Economic Analysis, and the Circle of Economists. She was a member of the Shadow ECB Council (2005-2010). Between 1996 and 1999, she was a member of the editorial board of Economie Internationale, and from 1999 to 2007, she was a member of the steering committee of the French Association of Economic Sciences.
She has received several awards, including the 2000 prize from the Circle of Economists-Le Monde (Voted Best Young Economist in France). In 2010, she was made a Knight of the Order of Merit. Agnès Bénassy-Quéré is also recognized by her peers through her numerous publications. She has over 40 publications in academic journals, 25 contributions to economic books, she has published four books, and produced, in collaboration with several colleagues, nearly a hundred policy documents. Her research mainly focuses on the international monetary system, exchange rates, European integration, and macroeconomic policy in Europe.
