Matthias Matussek studied American Studies and Comparative Literature at FU Berlin, and came to SPIEGEL via the Berliner ABEND and STERN. From the fall of the Berlin Wall to the Day of German Unity, he reported as a special correspondent from East Berlin and received the Kisch Prize for one of his reports. From 1992, he led the SPIEGEL office in New York, and in the following years, the editorial offices in Rio de Janeiro and London.

About Matthias Matussek

Matussek has written novels, plays, short stories, and frequently engages in societal debates, such as with his work “The Fatherless Society.” His book “We Germans” was on the bestseller list for thirteen weeks in 2006. For SWR, he hosts the TV feuilleton “Matussek Meets.” Additionally, he runs a weekly video blog on Spiegel Online, which has been awarded the “Golden Prometheus.”
