Bernard Kouchner
Humanitarian Doctor and French Politician
Bernard Kouchner, born on November 1, 1939, in Avignon, is a humanitarian doctor and French politician, co-founder of Doctors Without Borders and Doctors of the World, and minister in various left and right governments. A trained doctor (gastroenterologist), Bernard Kouchner has had an activist life, which led him to join the Union of Communist Students in the early 1960s, the Socialist Party, the Radical Left Party, and then back to the Socialist Party.
