About Nina Sedano

Nina begins her education in office management after her school years and a summer job in Paris in September 1985. Under-challenged at her training position, she learns several languages in evening courses. Today, she speaks English (Certified Foreign Language Correspondent for English, IHK), Spanish, French, and Italian fluently, and has knowledge of seven other languages.

From February 1988 to May 2002, she works for about half of that time as a senior employee in an international department in the credit card sector. The 30 vacation days are stretched with flexible days, holidays, and weekends to 70-80 days a year for travel. In August 1988, she flies for the first time outside of Europe to the USA – her 14th country.

Due to bullying, Nina Sedano – who has now traveled to 92 countries – leaves her secure job. She wishes to have more time for the world and just wants to get away.

She discovers our planet, the wonder for earthly beings in the universe, under the following aspects: people, animals, nature, food, art, and culture. She never lacks a healthy dose of humor, a pinch of courage, persistent perseverance, endless energy, and boundless patience, especially in dealing with bureaucratic processes.

After visiting 132 countries in 2005, she decides, prompted by a friend’s remark, “Nina, you can’t see every village in this world!” to try to visit the remaining 60 countries of the then 192 UN member states.

In March 2011, a documentary film from Liberia and Sierra Leone about Nina Sedano is broadcast on television. In the same year, in September, she visits her last country, Turkmenistan, completing her travels to all 193 United Nations states. She is the only woman in the entire German-speaking area known for this. In May 2014, her first book titled ‘Die Ländersammlerin’ is published and makes it onto the Spiegel Bestseller list.

In April 2015, her second book titled ‘Happy End’ follows.
