About Laurent Lèguevaque

Laurent Lèguevaque was born in Toulouse, where, after studying law and psychology, he passed and obtained the entrance exam to the National School of the Judiciary. For thirteen years, he served as an investigating judge in various cities, including Mâcon and Tours.

After a first thriller titled “Accusé, couchez-vous” (Gallimard), co-written with Michel Embareck, he received some reprimands from his superiors. On January 17, 2005, out of frustration, he slammed the door of his investigating chamber and explained himself in a narrative titled “Un juge s’en va,” followed by an essay “Plaidoyer pour le mensonge,” both of which became bestsellers.

His latest book, “Plaidoyer pour le mensonge” (Denoël), deals with the functioning of justice. Laurent Lèguevaque reflects on this quest for truth, illustrated by the multiplication of expert opinions, scientific or otherwise. His conclusion is unequivocal: we must cherish the lie.

This passion for writing continues to pursue him today, as, in addition to a book set to be published in October 2012 by Jean-Claude Lattés (A “Dictionary of Lost Causes”), he earns a living writing scripts – primarily for France Télévision.
