Christophe Dejours is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, professor at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM). He is also the director of the Laboratoire de psychologie du travail et de l’action (LPTA) in Paris.

He holds a Doctorate in Medicine (1974), a Certificate in Human Biology Studies (1968), a Certificate in Occupational Medicine (1975), a Certificate in Psychiatry (1979), and a Psychiatricat (1983). He notably completed a course in Ergonomics at CNAM in 1978 and ranked first in the competition for psychiatric hospital assistants in Paris in 1980.

Christophe Dejours frames his reflection on work in association with his second area of research: the afflictions of the physiological body and their links to psychic functioning. His preferred themes include the gap between prescribed and actual work, defense mechanisms against suffering, ethical suffering, and the recognition of work and the worker. This psychiatrist and psychoanalyst thus possesses a valuable analytical perspective and expertise on what we all do daily: work.

Professor Dejours is a member of several organizations such as the Institut de Psychosomatique de Paris (IPSO), the Association Psychanalytique de France (APF), the SELF, the SFP, the IAAP, and many others.

Christophe Dejours has written numerous books, all focused on the world of work and everything related to it. In 1986, he published “The Body Between Biology and Psychoanalysis.” Two years later, in 1989, he released “Psychoanalytic Research on the Body,” followed in 1998 by “Suffering in France” and “The Banality of Social Injustice.” “The Human Factor” was published in 1994 and reissued on three occasions: 1999, 2002, 2004. “The Body, First” was released in 2001. “Living Work” will consist of two volumes published in 2009, the first being “Sexuality and Work” and the second, “Work and Emancipation.”

Recently, he published in 2010 “Clinical Observations in Work Psychopathology,” his latest book.
