Dr. Becker advises world corporations and banks on economic issues relating to globalization and monetary affairs, as well as strategy. He began making his mark as the chief economist at BMW, where he was instrumental in creating an economic strategy department for the international automotive giant. He stayed on with BMW for almost a quarter of a century, advising the company on corporate strategy. He can be considered one of the leading consultants in the automotive industry.
Furthermore from 1970 to 1974 he was a member of the German Council of Economic Advisors to the German Federal government known as the “5 wise men.” He also led the renowned German corporate association of business economists (VDBE).
His experience of globalization encompasses such experiences as working with the Chinese government through the German-Chinese project group for public transportation, of which he was the chairman. Furthermore he is a member of several political and economic think-tanks such as the Ludwig Erhard and Konrad Adenauer foundations.
He writes for several major newspapers and is often asked for interviews in Germany and the USA.
