Richard Youngs is director of Fride, a think-tank based in Madrid and Brussels. He is also professor of international relations at the University of Warwick, UK. He previously worked at the Norwegian Institute for International Relations and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He is the author of six books, including ‘Europe’s decline and fall’ (Profile Books, 2010). He works on European foreign and security policy, the EU crisis, the Arab spring and issues related to international democracy.
He has a PhD and an MA in International Studies from the University of Warwick and a BA in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge.
