Wilhelm Schmid, born in 1953 in Billenhausen (Bavarian Swabia), lives as a freelance philosopher in Berlin and teaches philosophy as an adjunct professor at the University of Erfurt. In parallel, Schmid frequently gives lectures, including in China since 2010. In 2012, he was awarded the German Meckatzer Philosophy Prize for his outstanding contributions to the dissemination of philosophy, and in 2013, he received the Swiss Egnér Prize for his previous work on the art of living.
He studied philosophy and history in Berlin, Paris, and Tübingen. For many years, he worked as a guest lecturer in Riga/Latvia and Tbilisi/Georgia, as well as a “philosophical counselor” at a hospital near Zurich/Switzerland.
Schmid brilliantly conveys his philosophy of life to his audience and illuminates what can constitute a successful life: love, friendship, meaning. Let yourself be inspired!
