Werner Sonne is a journalist and author known far beyond Germany, whose seriousness and professional competence in domestic and foreign policy are considered outstanding.

As a long-time foreign correspondent, he reported from Warsaw and Washington for ARD and later worked for several years as a capital correspondent. At the ARD/ZDF information channel Phoenix, he moderated the program ‘Schwerpunkt’ for a long time. From 2004 until his retirement last year, he was finally the studio manager of the ARD morning magazine.

Werner Sonne is not only an experienced moderator but also a very successful speaker. He has earned a special reputation as an internationally respected expert in the fields of German domestic, foreign, and security policy, the Middle East, and international counter-terrorism.

His most recent publication is the book Staatsräson?: How Germany is Liable for Israel’s Security (2013).
