Stéphanie and Jérémie Gicquel are graduates of HEC Paris, business lawyers, and regularly teach at HEC. They live in Paris. They are also ultra-distance runners (ultra-trails ranging from 42 to 200 kilometers and from 2,000 to 10,000 meters of positive elevation gain). In 2013, they ran a marathon around the North Pole at -30°C. They are also polar adventurers. They organize and conduct expeditions in Greenland, Svalbard, Antarctica, by sail, on foot, and on skis. They completed the ACROSS ANTARCTICA expedition on January 27, 2015 — the crossing of the Antarctic continent on skis via the South Pole, covering 2,045 kilometers in 74 days. This was the longest ski expedition without a traction sail conducted by a woman in Antarctica. They wrote the book EXPEDITION ACROSS ANTARCTICA (Vilo, Preface by Nicolas Vanier) and produced the film ACROSS ANTARCTICA. The expeditions they have organized and conducted have made them particularly sensitive to the vastness of polar regions and their paradox — a sanctuary where nature reveals its formidable power to those who venture there, yet is so fragile. The narrative of their expeditions allows them to share this sensitivity simply. Furthermore, sharing their experiences in extreme environments serves as a remarkable tool for companies that value sports as a vector for performance. The challenges and obstacles they have overcome to achieve their goals, along with the keys they used to succeed, provide valuable lessons for the business world. Their training and professional background give them a genuine understanding of business, enabling them to draw from their experience as adventurous athletes to address certain corporate challenges. Large-format prints of photographs from Antarctica can be displayed on the days preceding and/or following the conference. The conferences are presented, at the company’s choice, by Stéphanie and/or Jérémie.
