Born in 1969 in Saint-Affrique, Stéphane Diagana is a specialist in the 400m hurdles. On August 4, 1997, in Athens, he became the first male World Champion in his specialty. In 2002, he won the European Championship title, also in the 400m hurdles, and in 2003 he became World Champion in the 4 x 400m relay. To this day, he still holds the European record in the 400m hurdles. Diagana thus has one of the most impressive records in global athletics.
His career transition has been successful and diverse. A graduate of ESCP Europe, he also holds a DUT in agro-food biochemistry. He comments on athletics events for France Télévisions where he serves as a consultant. But Stéphane is also a committed individual: he advocates for the anti-doping cause and is a member of the athletes’ committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency; he sponsors the 3rd National Nutrition Health Plan and, since 2006, the heart pathways organized by the French Cardiology Federation to encourage sports practice. He became the first president of the National Athletics League in 2007 and was the first French bearer of the Olympic flame for the 2008 Olympics (Beijing) during its passage through France. Not to mention that he leads conferences on performance in business.
Stéphane Diagana regularly gives conferences, mainly on the theme: “Performance in sports is always collective.” His presentation outlines the pillars and foundations of performance in high-level sports and creates the necessary bridges for the audience to appropriate these pillars and foundations, so they can apply them in their professional lives.
