Simon Dogger takes a visual audience into the thoughts and principles of a blind designer.
Simon Dogger graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven as one of the first blind designers. He has won various national and international awards and grants. His design studio is engaged in creating innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life. Not only for the visually impaired, but for anyone who benefits from solutions that connect them with themselves and their environment. His work adds an important perspective that reminds society of its own limitations: how inclusive can a world be for a reality that Simon Dogger himself does not know?
His lectures bridge worlds. How can you take a visual audience into the thoughts and principles of a blind designer? How do empathy and understanding play a crucial role in his work and life? By making his presentations interactive, appealing to their participation, and using their own observations, Dogger creates a unique experience. His personal experiences, having become ill and blind during his design studies and resuming after an intense rehabilitation period, are an inspiring and motivating story.
In 2020, he won the Dutch Design Award with the ‘Emotion Whisperer’, a tool that converts non-verbal communication into a vibration, and TikTik, an app that can guide the visually impaired to a destination.
