Is every person creative? How can we bring more creativity into daily life? How do we support children in the creative field so that they create their own images? How do we move from theory to practice?
Sabine Plamper (1972) is a graduate cultural educator and photographer. She lives and works in Amsterdam and regularly in Berlin. In 2012, her book “Understanding with the Hands – a different perspective on children and creativity – “ was published in the Netherlands. Together with her artist colleague Titia Sprey, Plamper developed the practical training program “Atelier in a Suitcase” for schools, kindergartens, and cultural institutions. The training provides answers in theory and practice to the current question of early childhood cultural education. It focuses on the important role of the adult as a companion in creative processes.
In addition to happening workshops, Plamper gives inspiring lectures that gain an additional dimension when combined with a practical component. The practical part can vary – upon request – from exercises with paper and pencil to working in a mobile artist studio. Plamper’s lecture is characterized by a lively presentation with concrete case studies and compelling photography from practice. The latest findings from brain research, the phenomenon of “flow,” and the importance of interaction are presented. With this lecture, Plamper aims not to instruct but to surprise and inspire people with this different perspective on children and creativity.
