Ronald Giphart's lectures, speeches, and workshops are lively and humorous. They cover various topics such as the evolution of humanity, gastronomy, the future of healthcare, and robotization.
In the 26 years since his debut Ik ook van jou (1992), Ronald Giphart has performed publicly about 1,500 times. He had successful theater shows with Joost Zwagerman, Nico Dijkshoorn, Martin Bril, and Bart Chabot, and he frequently visited companies, schools, and universities. He also regularly spoke at events and music festivals. In recent years, Giphart has given lectures on a variety of topics, ranging from leadership, the evolution of humanity, gastronomy, the workings of humor, robotization, the development of language, and the importance of storytelling.
He gained recognition as a novelist with (film-adapted) novels such as Ik ook van jou (1992), Phileine says sorry (1995), Ik omhels je met duizend armen (2001), IJsland (2010), Harem (2015), and Lieve (2016). Approximately 1.3 million copies of his books have been sold in total. In 2003, Giphart published the Book Week gift Gala.
Together with Professor Mark van Vugt from the Vrije Universiteit, Giphart wrote the scientific book Mismatch (2016), for which he also gives lectures and classes. The mismatch theory addresses how we are daily misled by our ancient brain and what we can do about it. Mismatch explains why so many people suffer from back pain, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity, as well as depression and burnout. But this phenomenon also frequently occurs in our love lives, parenting, politics, work, faith, and the environment, often without our awareness. The book has since been translated into English and Turkish.
Gastronomy is another important theme for Giphart, and in 2018 he ranked number 30 on the Top 100 of Food Influencers. Giphart has published several cookbooks (recently Smakelijk!), writes extensively about food, and has a TV program on 24Kitchen with wine writer Harold Hamersma: De Wit Rosé en Roodtrip. On stage, Giphart gives lectures about food in general and about leadership and top chefs, based on his book Eten, drinken, slapen, about working in the top kitchens of Jonnie Boer and Sergio Herman, where he interned with both.
In 2017, Ronald Giphart co-wrote a tenth story with a robot named Asibot for the famous short story collection Ik, Robot by Isaac Asimov. Together with the University of Antwerp and the Meertens Institute, Artificial Intelligence and the power of deep learning were used to produce literary texts. Giphart gave a series of interactive lectures on robotization and the future of language processing.
Finally, healthcare is a theme Giphart has written extensively about and gives lectures on. He wrote the script for the successful TV series De Co-Assistent and addressed healthcare in his novels IJsland and Ik omhels je met duizend armen. Together with Astrid Westerbeek from FWG Trendmonitor, Giphart gives lectures on trends and the future of healthcare.
