Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg is an expert at the intersection of personal and national security, prevention, crisis management, and societal resilience. Pieter-Jaap has always been committed to the public good, primarily in the areas of security, resilience, education, and healthcare.
Until September 2025, he served as the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV), where he led the coordination of government measures in areas such as terrorism, extremism, cyber threats, and was responsible for the national crisis structure and security. Prior to that, Pieter-Jaap was the Chief Commissioner of the Amsterdam Police and head of the repatriation mission for MH17. Additionally, he was a member of the Executive Committee of Interpol and the Management Board of Europol, where he also contributed internationally to collaboration and strategic development in the field of security.
Pieter-Jaap is also an experienced supervisor in healthcare and education.
