Olivier Krumbholz is originally from the Metz region. He began his professional career as a physical education teacher in the early 1980s. In 1976, he started playing handball at SMEC, and his career lasted ten years, during which he was selected ten times for the French national team.

From 1986 to 1995, he was the coach of ASPTT Metz. Olivier coached the women’s team and led them to victory in the national title five times. During this same period, he began coaching the French youth team, which finished in fifth place at the World Championship in Brazil in 1995.
He has been the coach of the women’s national team since 1998. A year later, the team won the silver medal at the World Championships in Norway, and two years later, they took first place at the Mediterranean Games in Tunis, followed by a bronze medal at the European Championships in 2002 in Denmark.
The victory of France at the World Championships in 2003 in Croatia marked a significant turning point in his career, as the team continued its rise and won the bronze medal at the European Championships and the silver medal in China in 2009 at the World Championships. In 2011, following an extraordinary journey during which the French team overcame the world’s greatest nations, the French Team secured a silver medal.
