Economic journalist, Nicolas Beytout graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies.
He began his career as a journalist at L’Économie and then at La Correspondance Économique. In 1981, he joined the Les Echos group.
He worked for numerous economic newspapers such as L’Économie, La Correspondance Économique, La Lettre des échos, before being appointed editor-in-chief of the newspaper Les Echos. He became editorial director in 1996. Serge Dassault appointed him to Le Figaro in the same position in 2004, which provoked the anger of the unions who viewed unfavorably the influence that owners could have on the newspaper’s content.

On the radio, Nicolas Beytout was a commentator on RTL from 1992 to 2001, an editorialist on Europe 1 from 2001 to 2004, and a participant in the Grand Jury RTL-Le Figaro-LCI, with Jean-Michel Aphatie and Pierre-Luc Séguillon from 2005 to 2007. On television, he presented Les Rendez-vous de l’Entreprise on TF1 from 1994 to 2001. It was also in 1994 that he launched L’Invité de l’Économie on LCI, a daily interview with a major economic player, which lasted until 1997 and again from September 1999 to September 2003.
Nicolas Beytout was a member of the National Euro Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondation de France, the board of directors of the Musée d’Orsay, the Scientific Committee of the Chair of Regulation at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, and the Ethics Committee of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF).
