About Monique Riccardi-Cubitt

Art historian, lecturer, journalist, author, and poet, originally from the Loire Valley, MONIQUE RICCARDI-CUBITT lived in London where, after her marriage to Count Riccardi-Cubitt, she completed her art history studies, initiated in Paris at the École du Louvre, at the Courtauld Institute, University of London. She has lectured at numerous British institutes and museums, particularly the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, for American and British universities, and for NADFAS and other cultural associations. She became the director of an art history course at Sotheby’s and established her own institute in London, The Riccardi Institute of Art.

Having become a British journalist and author, a member of The Chartered Institute of Journalists in London, she published, among other works, a reference book on cabinetry and cabinets, LE CABINET. UN ART EUROPÉEN in London, New York, Paris, and Milan, and contributed to academic articles in the Grove Dictionary of Art. She has written for numerous newspapers and art journals, such as The British Art Journal and The Antique Collector, and was the correspondent for an Italian art journal in London. After the death of her husband, an Arabist of Anglo-Italian origin, she lived in Rome where she represented an English art journal. She conducted research on MARIO PRAZ, an Anglophile, aesthete, and collector, whose collection forms the MUSEO PRAZ in Rome. She has traveled extensively in the Near and Middle East and lectured at the American University of Beirut and the National Museum of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

Now residing in Paris, she writes essays and poems in French under the pseudonym AURORE DE SAINT-JEAN. She is a member of the Société des Gens de Lettres de France and the Société des Amis de Port-Royal. In September 2010, she led a debate at the Café de Flore in Paris on POETRY AND POLITICS, THE ROLE OF THE POET IN SOCIETY. She is committed to recognizing Manouche culture and its influence on European culture. One of her poems is published online on the site LA VOIX DES RROMS
