Mimi delves into everything related to psychology. Her strength lies primarily in broadening perspectives, inspiring, self-confidence, healthy lifestyle, psychological growth, and change.
Nietzsche said: ‘One needs to still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star’. Jung said: ‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate’, and ‘Who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakes’. These are Mimi Ferrer’s favorite quotes; they precisely describe what her quest in life has been.
Mimi Ferrer studied Communication in Utrecht and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising in England.
For the past 22 years, she has worked internationally as an actress. Series and films she has appeared in include ‘The Bill’, ‘31North62East’, ‘van Speijk’, ‘de Co-Assistent’, and many others.
Additionally, she has immersed herself in everything related to psychology, the workings of the brain, and awareness. Not entirely without fear, but with a drive to continually reinvent and challenge herself, she has lived for years in London, spent some time in Los Angeles, lived in communal housing, and constantly immersed herself in new situations and environments. From working behind the bar, in a clothing store, at an advertising agency, to preparing and analyzing each role and filming on large movie sets both domestically and internationally, everything has ultimately been a piece of the puzzle to explore and understand life, to understand herself and human behavior, to inspire herself and grow personally, to improve her life, and thereby inspire and motivate others.
In her lecture, she poses the question, are you who you want to be, are you doing what you want to do? And if not, why not? What holds you back? Which (unconscious) beliefs, often disguised as real arguments, are preventing you?
Or are you actually who you want to be and doing what you want to do, but is the constant comparison with others and the societal pressure of achievement the real cause of your unrest? Knowing the difference and working on it is worth investigating. She talks about the psychological power of a decision and the energy that is released. What she calls ‘removing the option’. The moment you decide, the other is no longer an option. This creates calmness and a laser focus on what you do want. Even if that doesn’t have to mean any external change in your life, such a cognitive shift can pleasantly change your life.
Her strength lies primarily in broadening perspectives, looking beneath the surface, inspiring, self-confidence, healthy lifestyle, psychological growth, and change. Through personal stories and examples from psychology and philosophy, she invites you to look at your life, your work, and your relationships in a different way. She writes and gives lectures in both English and Dutch. Additionally, she works at The School of Life as a teacher where she conducts their class on relationships in Dutch and English, ‘Why You Should (Not) Break Up/ Stay or Leave’.
Through her deepening in various disciplines, she has a unique mix of perspectives and offers a surprising new outlook on many subjects; her passionate way of storytelling and presenting always provides food for thought and makes it an inspiring experience. Her calm and powerful presence, her flair, and dry humor make Mimi a pleasant moderator and host. Due to her background in communication and advertising, she has a clear vision of the desired tone of voice and the appearance of the event or conference.
