Michel Reverdy is an architect by training. He arrived in Strasbourg in 1974 to pursue his studies and has never left. He has primarily worked as an urban planner for the State (1981 – 1983), the Bas-Rhin department (1984 – 1989), the City and Urban Community of Strasbourg (1990 – 1999) / head of the urban planning department, the Mixed Syndicate for SCOTERS (2000 – 2006) / director, and the City and Urban Community of Strasbourg (2007 to present).
His previous roles as director of the Mixed Syndicate for the territorial coherence scheme of the Strasbourg region, and then as director of urban development for the City and Urban Community of Strasbourg, have given way, after leading the Cultural Assizes (2009) and formulating a sponsorship policy (2010), to his current role as director of internal audit for these same entities, which is quite different from his practice as an urban planner, except for the common denominator of Strasbourg, a capital city, soon to be an Eurometropolis, to which he has always dedicated himself.
Another practice of Michel Reverdy is music, which he pursues as an amateur, but as a professional would. His universe is oriented towards “pop-rock song” (naturally, he grew up with the Beatles). In 1985, he founded an association, Musical Comédie, which he has presided over since that day. The events he organizes bring together numerous artists around themes, causes, or local particularities. The concert held at the Zénith of Strasbourg in front of 5,000 people, featuring 170 artists and technicians following the earthquake that devastated Haiti, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful achievements of Musical Comédie, awaiting the “ray towards” planned for the millennium of the Strasbourg Cathedral in 2015.
A man of projects, blending local culture, urban foresight, and event organization, Michel Reverdy is a simple, engaged, and passionate citizen. The quality he values: humility. Optimistic, comfortable with the public and the media, his status as a civil servant (chief engineer) and the code of ethics he signed as an auditor assigns him a duty of discretion on certain projects, knowing, moreover, that discussing them is rather the responsibility of elected officials.
