Martina Gedeck is one of Germany’s most distinguished and popular actresses. She completed her acting training at the Berlin University of the Arts. She made her theater debut at the Frankfurt Theater am Turm, followed by engagements in Hamburg, Basel, and Berlin. Simultaneously, her career as a film actress began.
The film industry celebrated her with almost every major film award from the Adolf Grimme Award to a star on the Boulevard of the Stars. Her performances in “Bella Martha,” the Oscar-winning film “Das Leben der Anderen,” and the Oscar-nominated “Der Baader Meinhof Komplex” catapulted her into the league of international major productions, where she acted alongside Matt Damon, Jeremy Irons, and Helen Mirren.
