Comedian Guido Weijers has been among the top of the Dutch cabaret scene for over 15 years. The general public knows him from the New Year’s conferences in which Weijers provides intelligent and humorous commentary on current topics with his critical eye. Less known is his fascination with human behavior, science, and psychology, as well as his healthy aversion to self-proclaimed happiness gurus. Therefore, Weijers designed the Masterclass Happiness.
We are bombarded with ridiculous self-help books about happiness, laws for success, and how to get the most out of your life. With his theater lecture, Guido wants to offer a light-hearted yet scientific alternative to all the nonsense and absurdity you read and hear everywhere in the happiness industry. A theater lecture with humor.
Guido’s DNA
Guido is a non-conformist and neither eats meat nor fish. Everyone can believe what they want, and Guido believes in Darwin. Guido photographs, travels, dives, works out, writes, and cycles. His foundation Loens4Life raised 160,000 euros for KWF cancer research in 3 years.
Travel
Guido graduated from the National College for Tourism and Traffic. He has traveled to Mexico, Cuba, America, India, Malaysia, Peru, Dubai, Italy, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, Thailand, and Indonesia. He also finds South Limburg very beautiful.
Thrills
Guido is a dopamine man, always in search of stimuli. Weijers rode through Mexico on a Harley Davidson, did a bungee jump in New Zealand, patrolled in Afghanistan, dove with a whale shark (and 50 other sharks) in The Great Barrier Reef, went snowboarding in Austria, hitchhiked through India, jumped out of a plane in Teuge, and climbed Alpe d’Huez six times in one day in France.
Ideals
Guido Weijers believes that preserving the earth is more important than a growing economy.
“Life is easier than you think, but harder than you think.”
