What does Mexico have to do with the Caesar salad? Who invented the hamburger? Is the way we serve dame blanche the right way? And how did Carpaccio get its name? Behind the origins of many classic dishes lie exciting stories. Marian Mudder and Daniëlle Hermans combined their culinary knowledge and thorough research skills to write a whodunnit about the origins of famous dishes. In their presentation, they address the myths surrounding a number of world-famous dishes and reveal the truth. They also show what remains of the original recipes today. Their book ‘Fooddetective – Quest for the Origins of the World’s Most Famous Dishes’ can also serve as a corporate gift and/or be part of a goodie bag. Marian Mudder is an actress and author of the novels ‘Geluksblind, De perfecte minnares, and Volgende keer bij ons’. Marian is also a passionate amateur cook. In the lead-up to her career, she gained extensive experience in the hospitality industry and worked for several years in a restaurant kitchen. Marian Mudder studied drama at the Conservatory of Antwerp and has studied psychology for some time. She gained great fame as the character Vera Prins in the series Baantjer. Furthermore, she has performed in numerous theater and television productions such as Westenwind, Vrouwenvleugel, Flikken Maastricht, and recently Goede tijden, slechte tijden. She is currently working as a life coach. Daniëlle Hermans is an author. Her great interest in Dutch history and culture, along with her love for thrilling books, inspired her to write contemporary thrillers with typically Dutch cultural-historical elements. She made her debut in 2008 with ‘Het tulpenvirus’, which was published in eleven countries, including the USA, Germany, and Italy. After four historical thrillers and a forensic detective, she co-wrote ‘Stil in mij’ (non-fiction) in 2014 with Esther Verhoef. Her books are acclaimed for their thorough research.
