After attending the art academy, Filemon Wesselink completed an internal radio training at BNN. After finishing that, he became a reporter on Radio 1 for BNN. In the evenings, he worked with a friend on a TV pilot. When he showed this to the TV editorial team, everyone was so impressed that they asked Filemon to take on a report in Bridget’s program ‘The World According to BNN.
This pleased BNN and Filemon so much that they developed his first own television program ‘I Love The Betuwe’ in which Filemon, as an apparently naive reporter from the Betuwe, viewed the Randstad.
Filemon gained real national fame when he participated in programs Try Before You Die, Lijst 0, and Spuiten en Slikken. In the latter program, he initially acted as a reporter testing various drugs and later took on the central presentation at the table.
But his love for radio never disappeared. Every year, Filemon is sent by BNN Radio to the Tour de France and he regularly takes over Patrick Lodiers’ radio program ‘De Overnachting’ in which he interviews prominent figures from politics and culture for an hour.
Filemon has also written several books, including: ‘Voor de vrouwtjes’ which originated from columns he wrote for the women’s magazine Viva. In this book, he shares his own perspective on the opposite sex. In ‘Een neus voor wijn’, Filemon immerses himself as an uninformed but endlessly curious wine enthusiast into the mysterious world of wine. And in ‘Ik, papa’, Filemon reveals his struggles regarding fatherhood. Additionally, he wrote ‘De Ronde van Boogerd’ for which he followed Michael Boogerd for a year during his debut as a team leader.
Filemon Wesselink had his own interview program ‘De Week van Filemon’ and created the TV program ‘Het is hier Autistisch’ in early 2017. Filemon is currently one of the presenters of the travel program ‘Spuiten en Slikken on reis’, further writes columns for the cycling magazine ‘De Wielerrevue’ and ‘Viva Mama’, and is a regular table guest on ‘De Wereld Draait Door.
